Sledding

Luca went sledding for the first time a couple of days ago. We think he liked it, since he isn't talking too much we can't really tell. Nick was home and went out and shoveled the driveway and Luca had to help. We had gotten Luca a sled a couple of days before and were anxious to try it out. We made a tiny little hill in the back yard. Luca was completely bundled up and he reminded us of Randy on A Christmas Story, the way he was walking and couldn't put his arms down. Too funny. Later that night Nick talked to Jake and they decided to take Addie and Luca over to the park by Grandma & Grandpa Guthrie's house. Luca lasted for a couple of runs but not much more. I think that he is going to have some much fun when he understands what is going on.

Christmas

We had to wake Luca up again for Christmas this year, I guess it is becoming a tradition. He had fun opening his presents and playing with the wrapping paper and boxes. We then went to Grandpa & Grandma Guthrie's and later visited Grandpa Witte. Nice day.

Temple Square

Traditionally Nick's family goes to Temple Square in Salt Lake City on Christmas Eve but they decided to do things differently this year. Nick & I didn't want to miss out so we went by ourselves and had a really nice time.

Christmas Eve

This year we broke with tradition and did not go to Temple Square on Christmas Eve. We still had crepes and the kids opened presents and everyone seemed to have a good time. We were trying to get everyone together for a picture but unfortunately that didn't happen. Oh well, next time.

We don't leave milk and cookies for Santa, he get that everywhere else. We left Santa sparking cider and chocolates, and a veggies and cheese platter for the reindeer.

Getting ready for Christmas

Since Nick is only home two weeks a month we have to cram everything into those two weeks. We put up the Christmas tree a couple of days after he got home and life and everything else just picked up from there.

Disneyland

For our family gift this year we went to Disneyland. It was Luca's first time and it was a day to remember. We did the whole trip in one day. We got to the Salt Lake Airport at 5:00am and flew standby to LAX. Luca is an awesome flyer, sleeping most of the way there and then looking out the window when he was awake. We had a bit of a blip when we got to LA; I reserved a car for us with a car seat and the company had our flight information and I verified the night before. Well when we got to LA the shuttle wasn't there when they did pick us up there wasn't a car seat, everything smelled of smoke and the driver didn't shut the doors completely. This was looking good. We got to the rental place and they didn't have a car ready for us, they were out of car seats and we waited 30 minutes and then finally Nick got a little upset and we got the answer that no car, no seat. They didn't even offer to drive us back to the airport so we started walking. Unbeknownst to us you can't walk all the way to the airport drop off. We found a pay to park lot and hitched a ride back with them. During all of this I made reservations with a reputable rental company. Finally making it back to the airport and onto the shuttle, we got the car and were on our way only an hour late.
We didn't buy our tickets online because our printer was out of ink so we had to wait in line to buy tickets (by this point Nick was not a very happy customer) We got our tickets and Luca's little badge stating it was his first time. We rode tons of rides and had a great time. We left Disneyland after getting Luca mouse ears with his name stitched on them and drove to the airport. Boarded our flight and got home about 1:30 am the next day.  It was AWESOME!!! We will so do it again!
